Peace
and Security Policy Briefing: A
View from Europe
May
31 to June 2 ~ The Square, Brussels
A Joint Initiative of the
Peace
and Security Funders Group and the European Foundation Centre
Plan
to join European and North American funders for an in-depth look at Europe’s
foreign, security and peace policies and capabilities. This two-day briefing
represents a rare opportunity for funders on both sides of the Atlantic to come
together and to discuss with policy makers, policy analysts and practitioners
how they, as funders, can work more effectively on these issues.
The
briefing will start with dinner on Monday, May 31. We also intend to organize a pre-meeting site visit to one
of the key EU institutions that afternoon.
Key
topics on the agenda include:
*Europe’s Role in
Promoting Global Security: A look at Priorities, Politics, and Prospects *Ground Truths and
Lessons from the Balkans and Afghanistan *Changing Geopolitics
in a Multipolar World *EU responses to
drivers of Contemporary Conflict; and *Contrast, Compare
and Cooperate: European and North American Peace and Security Philanthropy
The
program will feature high-level representatives from EU institutions, leading
policy analysts, and experts working in conflict or post-conflict areas. It
will include a mix of plenary and breakout sessions in addition to case studies
on funders’ approaches and collaborative initiatives in addressing peace and
security challenges.
The
event is part of the European Foundation Centre Foundation Week. Participants
may want to stay for the European Foundation Centre’s Annual General
Assembly
during the second half of that same week.
There
is no fee, but registration is required. Click here to register.
